Dr. Heather Davis Gahagen is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and Assessment Specialist at D.I.V.E. Therapy & Consulting. She brings a thorough, collaborative approach to the evaluation process, helping clients and referral partners gain clear, actionable insights to guide treatment and next steps.
Dr. Gahagen's Approach to Assessment
Dr. Gahagen partners with clients and referring providers to ensure the evaluation process is meaningful, not just diagnostic. Her assessments are grounded in understanding the full picture — how history, environment, and lived experience shape the results so that recommendations are practical and relevant to each person's life.

Her Role at D.I.V.E.
Dr. Gahagen serves as an Assessment Specialist. She enjoys working with individuals of diverse racial, socioeconomic, and sexual orientations and gender identities with specialty experience serving military Veterans, and First responders (firefighters, police, EMT). She also has limited therapy availability for Veterans and First Responder seeking care. Those seeking therapeutic support within her specialty areas are welcome to inquire about current openings. She is a proud partner of The Headstrong Project, which offers free PTSD treatment for Veterans.
Beyond the Office
Dr. Gahagen takes good care of herself so she can take good care of her clients. She loves doing crafts such as knitting, painting, and cross-stitch. She enjoys reconnecting with a sense of awe and wonder by traveling, visiting theme parks, and trying new foods.
PROFESSIONAL CREDENTIALS
EDUCATION AND TRAINING
Dr. Gahagen graduated Magna Cum Laude from James Madison University with her B.S. in Psychology. She earned her M.A. and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at Ohio University. She completed her Doctoral internship at VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System and her Postdoctoral Residency at Tifton VA Outpatient Clinic, where her work focused on individual and group therapy with Veterans. She has since held supervisory positions and led Behavioral Health teams and programs in complex medical care systems.
LICENSURE
Dr. Gahagan is currently licensed to practice in the state of Georgia. Additionally, she is authorized to practice via telehealth in a number of states via PSYPACT offering accessibility across the country. See the Telehealth tab for more information.
